The “Must Do” List: The Nonprofit’s Legal Responsibilities to its Donors @ American Red Cross Building
Dec 1 @ 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

This session is being co-sponsored by the Char-Em United Way.

Are you comfortable that your nonprofit is meeting the legal requirements for its fund development program? Do you know how to appropriately evaluate, acknowledgeable and non-cash donations including cars, boats and real estate? Do you understand how to report raffle items and winnings, and determine a donor’s tax deductible contribution? During this session we’ll discuss the common mistakes nonprofits make in gift acceptance and how to avoid these mistakes through appropriate policies and business practices.  We’ll also discuss the Donor Bill of Rights and the donor stewardship practices of leading nonprofit organizations.
