Applications open for shot at $100,000 in GreenLight Michigan pitch competition

Startup business owners and entrepreneurs can apply to pitch their ideas for a chance to win part of $100,000 in total cash prizes in the sixth annual GreenLight Michigan Business Model Competition.

The competition is open to Michigan-based entrepreneurs with well-crafted ideas and business owners in the state whose business is less than 2 years old, according to a news release from GreenLight.

Applications, to be completed online, close Feb. 28. Finalists will be announced March 14 and the competition is set for March 28 at Michigan State University’s Wharton Center for Performing Arts.

The competition is sponsored by McLaren Greater Lansing, the Michigan Economic Development Corp. and Michigan State University Federal Credit Union.

The winner of the most recent competition-MySwimPro, which makes an Apple Watch app designed to personalize swim workouts-took home the $40,000 first prize.
