We’ve all heard the cry for more workers in the area. With Michigan Unemployment rates hovering around only 4.7% the quest for workers is on the rise, with an even bigger gap looming for the skilled trades. Eliminating this gap begins with connecting people to the career paths that will lead them to the necessary skills.
Communities and schools all across Michigan are taking the necessary steps to address these issues. Senator Deb Stabenow New Skills for New Jobs act partners community colleges with local businesses to train new employees for skilled positions. Baker College offers their MAT2 Program matching students and employers from the onset to transition into needed roles. Even local high schools, like those in Char-Em ISD are once again highlighting their Career Technical Education programs.
