The City of Cheboygan has been announced by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to take part in the Michigan Main Street Associate Level program. Recently published by The Cheboygan Daily Tribune; ” The Michigan Economic Development Corporation recently announced three Michigan communities, including Cheboygan, have been selected to take part in the Michigan Main Street Associate Level program. Other communities selected include Eaton Rapids, and Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation in northwest Detroit. As participants in the program, each community receives training during the next year on the Main Street Four Point Approach, which includes organization, promotion, economic vitality and design. Training will be conducted by staff from the Michigan Main Street Center and Select and Master Level Main Street communities. The Michigan Main Street program ties in with Governor Snyder’s placemaking efforts to foster vibrant communities in Michigan. These efforts are based on studies that show strategic investments create a sense of place and help build vibrant centers and downtowns that retain and attract talent, which plays a vital role in making the state economically stronger.
