Mackinac County Economic Development Strategy

In February 2010, Northern Lakes Economic Alliance (NLEA) was contacted by representatives from the Mackinac County Planning Commission. They were exploring options for economic development and wanted to learn more about NLEA. After 8 months of discussion and collaboration the Mackinac County Board of Commissioners and NLEA entered into an agreement to coordinate and facilitate the development of a county-wide economic development strategy. On June 1, 2011 NLEA launched a 4 phase plan of action to produce an economic development strategy plan. The following plan is the result of this agreement.
