Do you have a cubicle or an office? Is it housed within the same building as your employer? Most would answer yes, however, there is a new definition of office space coming to town. Co-working spaces- a shared office that is all about the atmosphere and a relatively low cost. Co-working spaces are popular in larger cities for start-ups, those who work remotely/travel for work.
Due to the planning effort of a Remote Office Home Office (ROHO) group- a Harbor Inc. initiative- the Loft Co-Working Space will be opening above the Rocking Horse Toy Store on Main Street in downtown Harbor Springs. This 1500 square foot space will give those who work from home, travel for work or work remotely networking opportunities, a connection to the business community, social occasions, and training opportunities. They will also have access to a kitchenette, copiers, printers and scanners.
There are several membership options and drop in rates. Fees range from $125 for an individual monthly to $20 a day. Small businesses and families can pay $160 per month with discounts available for a year commitment. The Co-Working Space will also allow people to have a main street address/mail drop. This new wave of office space will not only bring more people into downtown Harbor Springs but it will also attract more families to the area.
