Karen Belch – NLEA AmeriCorp Vista Staff

There is a new face in the NLEA office that will be welcomed by all, especially by folks in Central Lake and Antrim County!

Karen Belch will be our new AmeriCorp/Vista staff person who will provide Financial Literacy programs in Antrim County and assist the Village of Central Lake with implementing their Project Rising Tide community goals.

Karen moved to Boyne City this past year and is currently a doctoral student a Walden University completing an Educational Technology Degree. She has previously taught multiple courses at the college level at Oklahoma State University. Karen also brings a banking background and a passion for animal rescue programs along with life experiences from growing up in rural upstate New York.

Her willingness to work collaboratively within Antrim County and Central Lake will benefit many for years to come as they seek to implement the following goals:

  • Create a Brand/Enhance Identity
  • Create More Reasons for People to Come Downtown
  • Increase Economic Opportunity for Residents and Businesses
  • Build on the Historic Nature and Charm of Downtown Central Lake

Buck Love, Director of Business Retention & Growth at the NLEA completed the Michigan Non-Profit Association (MNA) required supervisory training to oversee the implementation of this position and will provided reporting responsibility and mentoring for Karen.
