The Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF) awards grants to employers to assist in training, developing and retaining current employees and individuals to be hired. Training is customized to meet employee skill requirements and is short-term in duration, preferably less than three months, with no training extending more than six months. The fifth year of the STTF will begin with an Open Application Period that will run from September 18 through October 6, 2017. For last year’s awards, our 4-county region saw 11 employers receive grants ranging from $4300 to $117,000 with an average award amount of $40,251 totaling over $442,000. This trained 316 workers in a variety of technical, manufacturing production, software and LEAN process skills.
