Northern Lakes Economic Alliance (NLEA) has teamed up with the Michigan Non-Profit Association (MNA) and local partners: the Village of Central Lake, Armor Express, the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation (GTRCF), and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to create a volunteer opportunity that will support Antrim County residents and the community of Central Lake. A VISTA (Volunteer In Service To America) will be contracted for a one-year commitment to help bring financial awareness to residents in the county through a Show Me the Money Day event and America Saves Week. They will also help to create a community brand that demonstrates the unique identity and economic advantages Central Lake has to offer, while promoting that brand through a consistent communication plan.

A unique partnership will bring financial literacy awareness to members throughout
Antrim County and create a community brand and communication plan for Central Lake.

There are four (4) main objectives the volunteer will be working on throughout the year:

1) Organize and host a Show Me the Money Day event. This is an expo/workshop type event that brings together all the various organizations and people in the County that have a program or expertise to assist people with strengthening their financial literacy skills and tools.

2) Participate in America Saves Week. The volunteer will create promotional materials around the goals of promoting good savings behavior.

3) Facilitate a process to create a community brand for Central Lake. This will demonstrate consistency in ideas, messages and visual tools used to communicate the unique identity and economic advantages the area and County have to offer.

4) Develop a sustainable communication plan for stakeholders in and around Central Lake. The communication plan will bridge the gap between various organizations (County departments, Central Lake Township and Village, the Chamber of Commerce, NLEA, MEDC, GTRCF and various service organizations) that all provide support to the community and County.
