Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by causing fusion, which is distinct from lower temperature metal-joining techniques such as brazing and soldering, which do not melt the base metal.


JAMES ROZNOWSKI- Manual Machinist in Tool Room – Link Industries

Machinist: $10/Hour (average entry-level wage)


    -Machining specialty parts for Link industries in Plymouth.
    -Working with metal to square it off, drill the holes, and cut the parts.
    -Worked in a garage down state- Found a job in Harbor Springs, Michigan, and took first opportunity to move north.
    -Got a job at Link Industries and completed on the job training. 

CHRIS OLIVER- Welding Supervisor – Wilco – ESI

Welding: $11-$14/Hour (average entry-level wage)  

    -Making sure everyone gets to their tasks on time.
    -Helping welded materials get to the paint booth.
    -Scheduling the work and making the sure quality is kept up.
    -Started out in high school with general welding classes.
    -Took a two-year vocational training course, then finished out school at Alpena Community College.
    -Worked hard at his job, and got promoted to welding supervisor.
