NLEA Business Attraction & Growth specialist, Hannah Sanderson, with her husband Kyle Sanderson, and their daughter Eva.

Hannah Sanderson joined the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance (NLEA) in 2016 as the Director of Business Attraction.

Hannah graduated from Harbor Springs High School and continued her academic and athletic career at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI where she graduated with a degree in Psychology and as a two time All-American on Women’s Lacrosse team. From there she coached women’s lacrosse at Davenport University and in the end, ultimately made the decision to move back to northern Michigan. Since Hannah has been back in the north, she and her husband welcomed their first baby, Eva, into the family and she does a great job keeping them on their toes (her little grin in the photo tells it all!). When Hannah is not wearing her business attraction hat, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring northern Michigan’s beautiful trails and spending time on the water in the summer months.

The business attraction side of NLEA works with local communities to prepare them for new development. We coordinate entrepreneurial teams within our communities to ensure that the community is entrepreneurial friendly, and guide them in taking steps forward in becoming more business friendly. We do this so the key partners within the communities are all on the same page and are a united front when a new business is opening their doors or relocating in their town.

NLEA business attraction team assists brand new businesses in opening their doors through the Northern Michigan Pitch Night program and partnering with the SBDC, SCORE, and local teams to secure a successful business launch.  NLEA also works with manufacturers that are expanding into our region. We leverage local, state and federal incentives to compete with alternate locations outside of the NLEA service region.

In our efforts to physically attract new businesses from outside of our region. We respond to the MEDC site selection requests and are on the MEDC Site Selection and CDC Team. This team works with the MEDC stateside and international teams to market available sites. We are the local partners for the Familiarization Tours where site selectors from all over the United States visit our region and learn why NOMI is a positive and prosperous location for new business.

If you are interested in expanding your business into northern Michigan or opening a new business, please contact Hannah at (231) 582-6482 or Hannah@northernlakes.net.
